We are proud that M&S Select Farm growers uphold the highest ethical, environmental, and quality standards.
M&S is committed to working in partnership with our supplier and growers on sustainability, championing British produce and communicating to our customers the lengths our growers go to produce M&S fresh food.
The fresh produce industry faces significant challenges from access to labour to climate change; M&S is committed to work in partnership with you, our suppliers and growers to reduce the impact of the products and support a resilient and productive supply base.
Our environmental activity focuses on three areas:
- Carbon reduction. M&S is committed to net zero across our own operations by 2035 and net zero across our entire value chain by 2040, aligned with industry bodies such as NFU.
- Sustainable water management. M&S is committed to WRAP Courtauld Water roadmap – sourcing 50% of our fresh food from areas of sustainable water management by 2030.
- Increasing biodiversity. In the UK, the M&S Farming with Nature programme aims to help growers to achieve stronger biodiversity outcomes on farm and protect and enhance 10,000 HA of quality habitats across the UK.
You can find more details on our supplier and grower environmental asks in Grower Guidance section. This hub is for our British suppliers and growers to share guidance and resources across our environmental activity. We are at the beginning of our net zero and water journey, so you will see more on those areas over time.

Why now?
We know that UK farmers are facing significant challenges: from uncertainties around Brexit and changes to farm support, to climate change.
Adapting to these pressures will require innovation in farming practices and industry collaboration. Working together we are determined to support our UK farmers to find new ways to meet the environmental challenges we face and help their farms become more resilient.
Collaborative partnerships
As part of our Farming with Nature programme, we are proud to have formed collaborative partnerships with a range of organisations and experts who will help us deliver our M&S Farming with Nature programme activity and goals. Key to the success of the programme, however, is continued collaboration and consulation with farmers in order to ensure solutions are fit for purpose and add value. As such, co-creation with farmers remains at the centre of our approach with our partners.
